'Gemmeizah' which means "Sycamore tree" in Arabic, is an artistic project, set by a group of Egyptian musicians and poets who aren't necessarily professionals.

'Gemmeizah' looks to open a new arena for those who don't find their own way to the commercial market of music in Egypt, by providing the chance to cooperate between musicians in all types, poets, producers and who ever.

The project has launched in 2004 by the poet "Nasser El-Nubi", and the composer "Ahmed Mostafa", and it showed its production in different places in Cairo.
Why this name?
Because the Sycamore tree or 'Gemmeizah', means alot in the old Egyptian mythology and modern Egyptian life, we think it's a real symbol of Egyptian's reunion around their heritage, arts and personality.
Do you play live?
We basically play live, but we're going to exprience new media and methods to present our production.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Simply, it's a very suitable medium - if it isn't the most suitable - to present audio arts to people every where and to interact with them in addition.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
no!
