Welcome to the "Howard Agnew" music page. I hope you enjoy and just maybe, you'll find something you did not expect.
Why this name?
It seemed best to go with what you know.
Do you play live?
Yes. Every Friday at the "sanctuary" service here in Loris SC. I lead worship every Sunday morning at the 9Am worship service at Loris First United Methodist Church. Assorted coffee shops, conferences, rallies and churches around the state. As well as speaking at seminars on worship;new and old.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I still think it is a "best kept secret" as far as the music industry is concerned. They veiw it as competition, rather than the awesome marketing tool that it is. It provides almost instant feedback on any material and if you are a savy A&R man; you can track trends by just seeing what is being downloaded. It also gives the independent artist a greater exposure/distribution market than he would normally have available.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Band History:
Howard started singing at the age of 6. It was at this age that his voice and ability began to distinguish him from other people. He performed his first solo at age 6 and hasn't stopped since.
He added songwriting to his arsenal when he was 15, while living in Columbo, Sri Lanka with his Mom, Dad and sister; and started playing in clubs when he was 18 while living in Bartlett, TN.
Howard draws on a wide range of musical influences when writing and performing songs. It is not unusual for him to re-arrange already established songs, hoping to bring new life to them.
Some recent highlights include:
Qualifying for the semi-finals in the 2004 "Exalting Him" worship leader contest, sponsered by "Daywind Records" and the Trinity Broadcast Network"
Leading worship for several thousand in Mutare, Zimbabwe while on a mission trip to that same country.
Anytime there is a chance to lead others in worshiping our Lord
HOward is the Children and Youth Director for his church going on 5 years and has been the worship leader for the 9am service for 3 years and counting.
He speaks around the state at various workshops and seminars on worship and leading worship. Howard is also a certified Missions Team leader for UMVIM.
Your influences?
This list is constantly morphing. I don't have one particular style I listen to exclusively. Right now on heavy rotation at home is; Chris Tomlin, Todd Agnew, Jack Johnson, U2, Israel Houghton and Tree 63 to name a few.
