HI. We're Brian Mauer and Ben Verson. We've been writing, recording and performing music for over 25 years together. What do we call it? HMMMMMMMMMM, we're not sure. We incorporate any and all styles. We hope you will find that we have succeeded in homogenizing a unique style. Influences range from classic rock (Beatles, Who, Zeppelin) to Folk, slip in a bit of bluegrass, and an equal amount of metal, and you get...Something, without a name.
Why this name?
We know it's a REALLY imaginative name. We tried other "clever" stabs at it. We kept coming up with names that had already been registered, or were too trite to be considered. We decided, after 25 years of doing this, if anything was going to "pop", we will do it on the strength of the material, and not some paean to some otherworldly metaphor.
Do you play live?
We have in the past (all the major rock clubs in Chicago). We don't right now. We have the mantle of "parental responsibilities", which take a great deal of our time. Given the limits, we are chosing (right now) to concentrate on writing and recording. We do LIKE to perform (and both of us are quite natural hams, and bon vivant, rapier wits. Bwawahahahah.) Special moments...leaving 300 people cheering on their feet at the Cubby Bear, on a mid-January Wednesday, on the coldest day of the year (28 below zero)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The net makes access easier for the performer and the listener. It allows the "unconnected" to have their work heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES, on OUR terms. We're too old to be trying to sell an "image". We are musicians and writers, not physiques and faces.
