the exciting fanfare closing to tchaikovsky's composition, 'the year 1812'
this is another extremely famous by Tchaikovsky. also the UT summer wind symphony played this as their 3rd song. overture 1812 first appeared for wind bands in the 1920's please enjoy.
this was the 1st of 2 songs the TMEA all-state symphony orchestra played. this is the top group of instrumentalists in the entire state of texas! their last song was symphony no. 5 by shostakovitch, which is below on this page.

the 3rd song in the RSS jazz band's 2007 jazz concert. trombones accidently messed up the gliss. at the end *oops* corey cunnigham and tim magness on alto sax solos. and clay dippel on trumpet.
The first mvmt of the epic Paris Sketches illustrates the sun rising over the latin quarter of Paris. it contains many individual solo parts which come together to form beautiful harmonies and melodies. will be played by REL at UIL 2008
the 2nd mvmt paints the image of a bustling marketplace, complete with car horns and police sirens. it is driving, jazzy, witty, and full of fun.
the third movement is very soft and delicate, opening with a beautiful alto sax solo. this illustration of the cities' largest cemetary is dreamy, romantic and beguiling.
The epic finale opens with a Hollywood like brass fanfare and builds to a very climatic ending after progressing through a series of contrasting episodes.
this song probably has the best ending out of all of our songs! this song is very heart-felt and dynamic. simply excellent. the 2003 TMEA all-state philharmonic orchestra performes the recording
'morning mood' the very familiar sounding opening movement of the peer gynt suite performed by the baytown symphony orchestra
'aase's death' an amazing composed somber and beautiful string feature perfectly illustrating a mournful scene
'anitra's dance' pretty much every full orchestral suite has to have a waltz in it somewhere, this waltz in particular has a very western european feel about it
'in the hall of the mountain king' the final movement of the suite, very familiar theme usually associated with halloween

An eerie sounding song by Robert Sheldon for grade 3 and up bands. Overall a pretty cool piece to listen to.
Ths is is the 2nd song HS Band 2 played. This isn't our recording the conductor cut "Angel of Music" conducted the theme 2 slowly & a clr. squeaked during the last formata. please enjoy this recording of some HS Band play it well.
this was the 4th song on fatasia 2000. in the movie the story of this song is that of a one-legged nutcracker soldier in love with a beatiful ballerina figurine. but he cannot get to her due to an evil jack-in-the box willing to kill him.
a very peaceful and gorgeous piano sonet under shostakovich's ink, he's crafted this song into an angelic work of art to contrast the brilliant first movement's boldness and malice

This is the first of 4 mvmts to Wilson's masterwork. The whole work depicts the mind's phases of Thinking, Feeling, Remembering, and Being and the emotions felt in each of them. It features a soprano sax throughout.
the 2nd mvmt has more of a slow, mellow tone to it in the beginning, then the mind begins to have quick flashbacks of days long past in a swingin bar.
All four mvmts of Piece of Mind are being considered for REL's Spring UIL Contest program. This is one of the hardest mvmts because of the immense amount of percussion and rhythm work. It is also the longest.
This is the finale of Piece of Mind. It has a very driving middle section before tapering off to build to the very climatic ending led by the 1st trumpets.
