It is Hebrew. It means "Bringer of light" or more simply "Lightbringer". Loosely, it would translate to latin as lucis ferre (meaning light bearer)or simply Lucifer, which also means "bright morning star" (Rev 22:16). The Greek translates to Heosphoros. Lucifer as depicted by Pagan tradition, is the God of the morning star. The main aspect of Lucifer is Enlightened Knowledge hence the symbolism of the morning star - bringing the day's first new light to the world.
