Annette Haas was born in Kitchener Waterloo. I moved to Hamilton in 1987 to attend Mohawk College, where I gradutated with honours from the Applied Music Program. From 1989-1992, I played with various jazz ensembles, including “November Nights” jazz quartet, “The Annette and Shawn Jazz Duo”, “The Harry Waller Big Band”, and “The Harold Namaro Jazz Ensemble”. In 1992, Annette met Adam Ostrosser, and not long after, the “Adam and Annette” duo was created.

Adam and Annette have been playing over 200 shows a year for over 10 years, performing in pubs, bars, private parties, weddings, and cooperate events. We've released two albums: “Adam and Annette”, and “An Adam and Annette Christmas”.

As well as playing with “Adam and Annette”, I've played with the successful Canadian disco band, The Travoltas and have enjoyed touring both Canada and the United States with them.

Sessions for “Skin and Bone” began in 2000, at Westmoreland Studio in Burlington Ontario. Busy schedules kept sessions to a minimum, but the album gained momentum in 2002, coming together in 2004.

Currently, I continue to gig with Adam Ostrosser, and The Travoltas, as well as Burlington’s “905 Band”. I play bass for Mike Trebilcock (The Killjoys), sing in the “Just Friends” jazz trio, and do the occasional solo gig.

Why this name?
I didn't choose it - my mother did.
Do you play live?
Absolutely and often. A current list of gigs can be found at my website, www.annettehaas.ca. I looove to play live, whether band, solo, or duo - I love it all. Must memorable recent experience was opening for Rik Emmett of Triumph fame.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Its a liability and an asset to a musician. The wider visability provides wonderful opportunites for exposure. However, illicit copying and sharing dips directly into a muscian's pocket.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, although I don't think that it's the magic wand that it used to be.
Band History:
See introduction.
Your influences?
Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Mike Trebilcock (The Killjoys), Bob Marley.
Favorite spot?
Hamiliton, Ontario, Canada. I work here and the city's been wonderful to me.
Equipment used:
Tacoma Accoustic Guitar, Music Man StingRay Bass Guitar, any available accoustic piano, Lee Oskar Diatonic Harmonica.
Anything else...?
I've been writing music since 12 years old, and performing professionally since the age of 16. I have no preference for a genre of music. My CD, "Skin and Bone", has been described as rock/roots/country/folk/pop.
