Vocalist Jean Tully and synthesizer player Diego Valladolid are Starburger, a Madrid-based duo that stir electronic pop with a heavy dose of stomping glam rock yob, something akin to early Cabaret Voltaire writing soccer anthems.
Band History:
Inspired by air-punching, foot-pounding, hip-swinging glam rock extravagances such as Gary Glitter or early Alice Cooper, frontman Jean Tully and Diego Valladolid formed a number of bands during the late 90's, none of wich went on to become very famous. Switching guitars and drummers for cheap synthesizers and beatboxes, the two of them began exploring the same raunch, unfashionable depths of glam at the turn of the century. A little more experimental, perhaps, but no less primal, with its beatbox an aprés-garde stomp, and the synthesizer lines a Commodore 64-guided leviathan, riffing their way toward the inevitable chants of "hey!". Starburger's first offering is "Disco Llorando". This track was written by Diego Valladolid and Thomas Van Aalten, frontman of Thom Revolver, and its presented here in its most primitive stage. Soon to come are true Starburger's tracks, including a re-wamped version of "Disco Llorando", and other soccer hooligan androids chants.
