AL TEZACHEN is a writer/player/bandleader who may or may not have been touring the US South since '74. He puts a lot of thought into his material, and he hopes you enjoy it. FLASH update!! Al got his Commodore C-64 on the net somehow, hacked the admin password, now he knows the truth...you're listening, but nobody's got a working keyboard or a basic grasp of literacy or kindness...no feedback! In his words, "If I'd wanted to "do it with a condom", I woulda tossed 'em out the window of my Beechcraft at 10,000 feet"..He threatened to pull the whole page off the net unless he hears from at least one listener in the next few days. So whadya say, guys?
Why this name?
Al's been around for a long time, and speaks a little Yiddish when he's especially happy or sad.
Do you play live?
About half the songs on the record could have been recorded live at the Hattiesburg Country Club (Mississippi)
Every moment is "special" in it's own way.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Beats schlepping the local bard, his mom, and his lute collection around in the Alps...seriously, kinda reminds me of the fellow who found gold under a tree in the woods...tied a yellow ribbon around it while he ran home to get a shovel and a drywall bucket, while he was gone the locals tied yellow ribbons around "all" the trees in the woods, 'cause there was a law prohibiting removing his ribbon...the point being, it's nowadays a little harder to find gold...it's out there, but...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I like Woody Allen's "wouldn't belong to any club who would have me as a member" Hearing yourself dripping out of a ten-cent speaker in a random elevator in Pittsburgh might not be the thrill it's cracked up to be.

Your influences?
From the writing angle, Al likes deep thoughts, you know, like smart people often have, but he knows that as limbic-system driven creatures, we respond to beats and to chord changes which may be hard-wired, who knows?...So that songs have got to "grab" you whether you're drunk, ecstatic, or just scrubbing the floor. He obviously likes Donald Fagen a lot, but B B King and James Brown and Stevie Wonder...
Favorite spot?
There's no place like HOME!
Equipment used:
Hammond B-3, Yamaha PF80, Conn 10-M Tenor Sax, Epiphone cheap guitar, Cakewalk Home Studio.
Anything else...?
Ok, maybe the whole thing is a fantasy creation of an especially knowing, precocious, 13-year old schoolgirl from Paramus...would it matter that much? Listen, you can at any time return the un-listened-to portion of the music, and she will gladly send you back the unspent portion of your money.
