Born in Loiza, Puerto Rico, Mangani is an up and coming Reggaeton lyricist. Boasting a history of writing/freestyling/rapping since the age of 8, Mangani is working to establish himself as not just an artist, but a movement in the Reggaeton genre. Raised between California and Loiza, Mangani has a versatile style which combines West Coast style gangster rap, Loiza style underground lyrics, and revolutionary consciousness. He rapped exclusively in English until 1993 when he heard what were the first Reggaeton tracks, known back then strictly as "underground".
With his brother, DJ Tito, by his side as the musical composer, producer, and DJ, Mangani (Then known as Ouija da Wicked One) and his rap partner La Sister (then known as Sh'killa, and who just recently signed to White Lion Records) took the streets of Loiza by storm in the early 90's. They battled other local groups on street corners and clubs until they parted ways in 1998.
Mangani is currently singed to Platinum House Entertainment Management and has a recording contract with Wu Tang Latino. Stay tuned for projects later this year, and an album in early '08!!!

Why this name?
Mangani is originally from the Tarzan books. It is the name of the tribe of hybrid tribe of apes/apelike humans that raised Tarzan.
In the '70s, there was a small gang who called themselves "Los Mangani" in Parcelas Vieques, a barrio in Loiza. Mangani's father was one of the leaders. In the early '90s, the offspring of this little gang reunited (as most of them were cousins anyways), and would do crazy things around Loiza like jumping from high palm trees into the Herrera River, or playing tag in the mangroves. The craziest would be called "mangani" as a form of respect. The rapper, Mangani, is one of the last remaining offspring of the little gang, and the last living from the group who would call themselves that out of respect in the '90s.
