Based in the North East of England which has recently spawned acts such as The Futureheads, Maximo Park and Yourcodenameis:Milo, Laconia couldnt be more different merging influences to create a magical blend of alternative rock.
Having played throughout the UK and self funding various releases the band have played with numerous signed acts playing venues such as Newcastle, Durham and Lincoln Universities.
So far without management or label help the band played tours visiting cities such as London, Manchester, York, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Leeds to name but a few supporting bands such as Hell Is For Heroes, Captain Everything, Easyworld, Appease.

Why this name?
We started the band basically before we had a note of music, the idea was there, but we hadnt dopne anything at that poin. Our previous bass player rang me up and basically said " i think we should call ourselves Laconia" and we stuck with it.
Do you play live?
Live indeed! we've played throughtout the UK.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
the music industry as a whole has used the internet alot more. for a band like us who are trying to get our music to as many people as possible then its nothing but good.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We'd be lying i think if we said no..but on the other hand we really want to work with people who are passionate about the band and people who are willing too compromise rather than use us for a quick £...at the moment an established indie would be a blessing.

theres far too many to list, we all love alot of different stuff but the general idea of mixing heavy guitars with strong melody
