Suicidal funeral doom metal solo-project.
Why this name?
I wanted to give the project a religious feel, because this is very spiritual for me - in the sense that it's so personal. Thus, Hymn of Lament is like a song of sorrow, of mourning.
Do you play live?
This being my solo-project, I don't play live at the moment. However, if I found musicians who would play live I would consider it. This will always remain a solo-project, though.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps projects like this one and other underground/extreme metal bands and projects be heard when no radio station will play them. Radio stations are corporate and rely on appealing to the masses. The lowest common denominator is the key to getting on the radio - songs have to be short, catchy and acceptable to mainstream audiences. With the internet people can hear music other than what they're force-fed by MTV and other shit.
Band History:
Hymn of Lament has been with me since I was a child and realized I was different, which led to a deep-rooted melancholia. Before I even got into metal, Hymn of Lament was there... Now it has way to voice the self-loathing, pain and fatalism that was silent before.
Your influences?
Skepticism, Funeral, Worship, The Ethereal and old My Dying Bride.
Equipment used:
I use an Ibanez guitar that I rarely tune fed through a Digitech "Metal Master" pedal and an ancient Gibson amp. For drums... I don't even know what the drums are, they're not mine, though I play them.
Anything else...?
