The three of us have been a band since 1998. We still love playing together and have no plans to stop.
Why this name?
As we were ranting about all the good band names being taken, "The Rants" just made sense.
Do you play live?
We tried playing dead but the name "The Opposums" was already taken. We have played every Kwikfest (a local outdoor festival) since 2002. We performed irregularly as The Faders at Canal Street Tavern, the premier original music venue in Dayton, Ohio. Special moments? Some guy danced once.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Hey, if we could just reach out to one person it would make it all worth while. Two people would be a huge success. And three would be a crowd.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
We already have signed a great record contract. We got 11 albums for just the price of one.
Band History:
Clint and Mike rode the alternative wave in the 90's with a band named Radio Bikini which briefly made the local airwaves on WOXY 97X. After the demise of Radio Bikini and a few years apart Clint and Mike reformed and decided to climb back up on the horse... and that horse's name was Kevin. And that band's name was The Faders. Eight years, ten kids and six houses later, The Faders became The Rants.
Your influences?
This is a list of the people and groups that people have either said we sounded like or that we wish we sounded like: Bob Dylan, The Beatles (yeah, we know), Mott the Hoople, Matthew Sweet, The Jayhawks, Foo Fighters, Gin Blossoms, The Byrds & Son Volt.
Favorite spot?
Wherever you go, there you are.
Equipment used:
Ludwig drums, DW pedals, Paiste and Zildjian cymbals. Rickenbacker guitars, Fender & Roland amps. Gibson Victory Bass and Ovation Magnum Fretless bass.
Anything else...?
Thanks for stopping by.
