Skanless “3”
FORMALLY KNOWN AS
380 Dat Lady
Has returned!!!
Since her introduction album in 1996, “3” has always been one of the hottest female M.C’s to record vocals to track. Although “A Day In the Life of 380 Vol. 1 sold very few copies, fact still remains that this young lady is the truth. In 1996 Skanless “3” was 16 years old however, this was not the first time we had all heard from the young rappstress. “3” has gone through many transitions and metamorphoses from the day she started to spit. The original name she adopted on the CrimeBoss album was “Yellabone”. “3’s” first professional contract was with Suave Records and her first professional recording was on they debut album of CrimeBoss, “All In The Game”. After departing with Suave Records, she kept the name given to her by 8-Ball & MJG; 380.
In 1996, 380 signed on with Cartel Records and have been there since. So, now you may ask, “What is she doing now, what’s her new name, where is she based?”
380 ANSWERS ALL QUESTIONS AND REMOVES ALL DOUBT
380: Nothing has changed with me…in that same breath almost everything is different. In 1998 I moved to Atlanta, GA with my family and went to college. Coming from Houston there was very little diversity so, when I got to Atlanta I began to adapt to my environment. In Atlanta, everyone is in the music industry, everyone is a rapper or producer, or even a writer or executive. It was really no big deal that I was an artist. As I began to explore this new city I was in, I also began to explore self. By exploring self I revised my game plan in life and career. My style no doubt has changed in delivery but, my subject matter has always been and will remain consistent. The thing that has changed most about my career is that I am no longer chasing the hype of getting a major record deal or being seen as one of the hottest female artist. My focus at this point is writing good music. I love myself, I respect myself, and I know myself…therefore I am writing my best right now. I started a second project in 1998 before moving to Atlanta in Houston with Mike B. After moving to Atlanta I linked up with several more producers and artist finally finishing a somewhat sub-par project. While working on the project I didn’t realize that was the beginning of my growth towards BETTER DEVELOPMENT (Wuz up Sub Zero), that was the best time of my life. Now, I am turning my attention to starting on a third album and interested in pressing and distributing the new second album.

Why this name?
Actually, I didn't choose my name it was given to me. I am a former member of Sauve Records and I was (at the time) the youngest member and only girl on the label. Seeing as 8ball & MJG were known as the 9mm boyz, what name would be more appropriate for me than little 380. Just recently as an older artist I 've started to explore the option of name change......and then I snap back to reality. I am and will always be lil 380!
Do you play live?
I do not play any live instruments...not that I can't I just don't; however I am always down o battle a fool who tries to test my gangsta on the mic. Anytime, anywhere, "I'll take any M.C no matter if they are a girl or n****, I wish you would try to style cause my game is bigger!"
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has taken this game to a whole other level. Technology alone has evolved the music industry in it's self. By implementing the internet into the promotion and distribution aspect of the game we have successfully became almost self sustaining as idependent label, production, and entertainment companies. I think that the internet is going to help a lot of starving artist who just can't get a break get out the and heard with out even having to leave the homes! It's a beautiful thing and I am elated!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
For the right price anything is possible. I never speak on what I ain't got but if the price ain't right then my album won't drop unless it's indie. I have a volt. I am sitting on material like one of these big exec's out here. Really, if you think about it I'm rich as hell. The one who has the product has the power and money in a sense.

Your influences?
Man, I'm 26 years old. I can go on and on about my influences in the game. Honestly my influences in the game are not all artist. A lot are owners or CEO'S of major record labels. Like The Queen of course who reaaly began to impress me with here management label Flavor unit. Yo-Yo cause she reped it for the real hardcore west coast gangsta girls. Ice Cube, Kool G Rap, Teddy Reily, Bone Thugs, Scarface, and several others not limited to the rap and r&b genre.
Favorite spot?
Come on, you gotta know for myself it's always gonna be home. H-town! I'm a pioneer. I do however love Atlanta, D.C, Falls Church,VA; OKLAHOMA, OHIO, and can't forget the D. What's up to me DETROIT Playas!!
Equipment used:
Any equipment I can get my little hands on to make music. MPC'S, PROTOOLS, ALESIS, AKIA, ECT.
