Hey this is Dave from Davidoth, We are basically an experimental Electronica group that has no limits as far as a genre. Mostly we make very atmospheric songs that ignore standard song structure, Standard sound schemes and other things that "work" in the typical scheme of things. However we do a lot of collaborations with whoever wants to work with us, no matter what they are into, how well they play, or how they play it. Music is an art, plain and simple the more people realise that, the better things in the industry will become.
I call this a group because even though I am the primary creator of the songs, I get a lot of help from other people. A lot of Outside assistance by way of Royalty free loops, collaborations and Ideas. Plus the group I jam with and wright with are always feeding me ideas and constructive criticism that I take with me and make the Davidoth songs with.
Why this name?
The name Davidoth was given to me by a great friend of mine Andrew Jarvis. He told me that had I been born a Vampire, or some sort of Gothic king that would have been my name. I always thought it sounded really cool so when I needed a name for this project I just decided to use it.
Do you play live?
At this moment Davidoth does not play live, but I am getting a Live band ready. We have been asked to play for a possible Fashion Show in Providence this summer. Other than that hopefully we can get a few Live shows in by the end of the summer. I would like to play at least 3 or 4 shows before fall.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the Internet is revolutionary for music, It makes it possible for people who don't have the money or the means to get there work out there a huge opportunity. You can play a north east tour and blow the walls down of 20 clubs, but if no one comes out to see you, that could be your only shot. With the Internet the exposure is always there for you, then once you have it its even easier to find your fan base, then you can go play there, The internet is great for up and coming musicians.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would sign with a label only if they gave you full creative control of your music. Screw labels that wanna control you and your sound, and F*** bands that let them.
Band History:
Davidoth started in early 2000, when I began doing remixes and Mash ups. In the Summer of 2001 Davidoth Began on the "Big City" Project, which finally came to Completion in the Spring of 2002. (With a lot of help from Jessaly.) However All of the "Big City" Project was lost when the computer the original files were stored on lost its hard drive, Only 5 CDs were actually mixed and burned and all 5 were lost. Summer 2004 saw the rebirth of Davidoth with the "Big Citys Big Dreams" Project, A Version of the Project is currently complete. Davidoth entered the studio in Fall of 2004 with AfterLife co founder Ant 'Six Pack Abs' to begin rehearsing and recording material. In Spring of 2005 The Duo cut the demo track "Blood Dawn" , The Team is Currently still working on material for there as yet untitled album.
With "Big City's Big Dreams" Complete A New Shift in focus struck the band. Dave Decided the project needed more depth and called upon Tim Ficher to join him and begin perfecting the old Davidoth material and begin writing new Remix material and new songs. Also A Live band is currently being formed.
A New Davidoth Album entitled "Phantasmal Visions" Is Currently in the works as well as may Remixes. Dave is also Currently in the studio with Spart of 202 Crew and Clasick from Stick Up Entertainment Engineering there up and coming albums and Remastering some of there past work.
In 2006 Davidoth released 'Into the blue' and announced that Ed 'Dugey' Anton had joined the band. The official Live lineup is Dave, Eddie, Tim, and Mike.
Your influences?
My Musical infulences are vast, everyone from Hendrix to TLC, but the major ones are The Cure, A Perfect Circle, Seal, Paul Oakenfold, DMX, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Garbage, STP, Tool, John 5, Nobuo Uematsu and many many others, like I said its VAST!
Favorite spot?
I have a lot of favorite spots, but as far as City's New York and Boston are great, Providence and Warwick are cool to, but some of the people that live there really suck.
