"The Band"... is just myself at this point, Phillip Smith, lone track producer and turntablist - well I use that term loosely as I only have a year of experience under my belt, but my experience grows every day, and so does my love for the eletronic music scene, specifically break beats - and even more specific would be the Florida Breaks style.
Why this name?
alterity
\Al*ter"i*ty\, n. [F. alt['e]rit['e].] The state or quality of being other; a being otherwise. [R.]
"For outness is but the feeling of otherness (alterity) rendered intuitive, or alterity visually represented."

Whenever I am listening to music, spinning tracks, or attempting to create a beat, I am always someone else, not my normal everyday "Phillip"... I am being other, practicing alterity by it's text book definition.
Do you play live?
Never been able to use my turntables at a large venue, thoug hi hope to someday. I have played live before 30-40 people at parties and local stuff. I love the feeling of just being in the music, seeing everyone else being in the music, and I love hearing some yell "hell yeah, I love this song".
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Extreme diveristy. It allows anybody to attempt to put something out there that they want to share with others, whether it's for free or for profit. It makes small time nobodies a special somebody with a small, loyal following.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yes. To be able to profit from doing something that you really love is the ultimate benefit. It's not work if you love doing it... and it's not selling out if you keep your ethics close to heart at all times.
Your influences?
Right now, DJ Icey, Baby Anne, and J-Break all big time influences. I also like a lot of Tiesto's stuff, as well as Oaknefold, and even DJ Keoki - who was definitely the original Dj I aspired to be like. Now I just try and incorporate the trance with the breaks... try and create somethnig that is mine.
Favorite spot?
Las Vegas. #1 by far.
Equipment used:
2x TTX1, Korg Kaos III, Behringer 5ch mixer... plus my computer with countless programs for creating my own stuff.
