Hello I'm Mango Stone. Welcome to my world.
Why this name?
I wrote as song called Breezy Fish. It was an Instrumental not really about anything. Friends said you can't call it that. Why Fish? Why not breezy Pinapple or Breezy Mango. So breezy Mango was born. Then I asked my Friend "what does a Mango looks like anyway" He described it saying it had a mad stone inside. So became Mad Mango Stone which later became Mango Stone. Now I just kinda like it. I think the name contains elemnts of Reggae and Blues which do feature quite regularly in my music so it just fits.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Over the years we have seen various movements that have opened up the music industry to ordinary less priveleged people. This happened with House, Dance and Hip Hop via such things as sampling and mixing. MP3's and the internet are another step on that same road. The Indutry had better accept that. Between Music and the industry, Music itself sure ain't gonna loose.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No.
Your influences?
I listen to a wide variety of music. All of which plays a part in the music I make. I suppose the base sound is electronica from the likes of Jean Michel Jarre, Enigma, Future Sound of London etc. But as well as that I listen to Blues, Rock, Metal, Dance, HipHop, Reggae and even Classical and Folk.
