Sitari is sort of like prog electronica. The main force behind the music is G.Bowles, a graduate from SAIC's sound program and all around music guru. The audio started when two friends got really drunk and recorded 6 songs with a synthesizer, drum machine, 2 guitars, some amps, and some percussive devices (and even a trombone). The idea was basically to do some multi-tracked, psychedelic music that was a combination of multiple influences and styles. The name was so great that it stuck around, and here it is.
Why this name?
inebriation, fun, sitars and video games, etc
Do you play live?
not yet, soon however there should be some shows
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it really levels the playing field and lets music that wouldn't be heard in the past in people ears
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
still?
Your influences?
Amon Tobin, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Meat Beat Manifesto, King Crimson, Rush, Miles Davis, Sun Ra, Third Eye Foundation, Indian music and other middle eastern music
Favorite spot?
Chicago, I live here
Equipment used:
laptop, analog korg circa 1982, samples, laptop, guitar effects, guitars, bass, basically anything is game, though mostly electronic... soon I wish to get a midi sample trigger (combination keyboard and drum pad)
