I'm Hannah, I'm 20 and I live in the worst area of Sunderland, causing me great angst and strife.

I've been playing guitar on and off since I was 12 and only started playing seriously when I was 16. I also play piano, recorder, bass, drums and a variety of novelty instruments like tin whistles and castinettes.

I started off as a solo artist, mainly playing open-mic nights, then joined a band for about 8 months as the singer, then went back to being solo again as my main project. I recently downloaded Audacity which has been a blessing as now not only can I record at least half decent tracks, I can export them as mp3s! Right!
Why this name?
Well I didn't, but I nearly went under the psuedonym Han Solo since it's quite appropriate and apparently I'm in a few people's phonebooks as that, but I thought it sounded like too much of a novelty thing and we acoustic artists like to take ourselves seriously don't you know.
Do you play live?
I do when I can. On my own I've really only played in Sunderland at Bar P.U.R.E a few times, The White Room once and The Ivy House twice along with several buskers nights. I'm currently aiming to get gigs in Newcastle and back home to Middlesbrough.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that it can be a good thing, stuff like this obviously is a great oppertunity for unsigned artists to get their stuff listened to. However, I think it's spread a culture of 'song-loving' rather than fanship and people tend to go for songs over bands. Which forms the vicious circle of having one-song acts and one trick ponies like The Artic Monkeys and The Killers. Pity. I blame NME.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Why aye!
Band History:
Oh, I think I pretty much said all that in the first bit!
Your influences?
Quite diverse I think:
Led Zeppelin//Nina Simone//Mansun//Bright Eyes//Belle and Sebastian//ELO//BRMC//Joni Mitchell (obviously) are the main ones. And I'm afraid I can't leave out KT Tunstall - she made girls cool again!

The reason I've listen the above acts is because I pretty much settled on *blues* as my niche. Then realised blues could get quite boring, so made it a bit darker in places, light hearted in others but kept in that bluesy genre, sometimes with a little bit of folk thrown in for good measure. So I call it New Wave Blues. Which incidently is the title of my new song.
Favorite spot?
I love Manchester and Liverpool city centres, I love Newcastle and Middlesbrough and I never thought I would, but I love Sunderland!

Favourite place though? Porté Mou in Portugal.
Equipment used:
For recording I've got my laptop equipped with Audacity - no decent soundcard as yet but I'm waiting on a Mackie Spike. Birthday present methinks! I've only got a basic mic and four guitars - a flat bevelled bottomed blue Artisan for finger picking and bends, a semi-acoustic Encore for the gorgeous sound, a fully acoustic bevelled bottom Applause with steel fretboard for slide guitar and a mint green electric Starfire just because it looks nice! I just use a DI box live and for home practise, a little Marshall amp.
Anything else...?
