QFM's "Blazin Asians" is the emcee element of the "Quest For Madness" or "QFM" deejays. QFM is a very scratch DJ oriented group so we felt the need to distinguish the emcee element with a diff name. We are an all-Filipino MC/DJ HipHop group from Guam, Cali, New Jers, & Dallas.
Why this name?
The "QFM" or "Quest For Madness" name came about in 1987 when we consolidated two diff mobile DJ groups, "Music Madness" & "Music Quest". The "Blazin Asians" came many years later, when we moved from mobile Djing to Dj battling and eventually emceeing. Its just supposed to make issue of the growing asian hiphop scene.
Do you play live?
Only the 'tablists in the group perform live. We competed in the 2000 DMC US finals in NYC last year.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Gives everyone a voice. It levels the playing field completely bypassing the corporate money-making aspect previously required to be heard. Now artists who dont have profit-making agendas can be heard worldwide.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Nah, got more important stuff going on, like our families. Plus our stuff isnt major label material. Just homemade raw hiphop with our souls put into it.
