Andy is an Independent Christian Artist and Songwriter who has been writing and performing music for over 15 years. Andy has released three self-produced CD's under the PlankintheEye Music label. He is currently working on a fourth project due to be released in 2009.
Why this name?
Andrew Wiest => AndyW. Kinda gives it an online/internet feel.
Do you play live?
I currently play guitar for the Praise Team at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Aiea, HI. I have played live in coffeehouse events and have participated in several church praise and worship teams over the years. Previously I was a worship leader at Living Hope Church in Monterey, California until I had to relocate because of my day job.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives independent artists like me the opportunity to be heard and let others hear things from around the world that they would never have heard otherwise. It truly changes everything. I think making a more direct connection between the artist and the listener is great!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if their internet architecture didn't abandon the loyal and supportive online fan community.
Band History:
Andy started recording and performing in 1993 in Moscow, Idaho, while at college, at Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Since 1995 he has participated in music ministry at Metro North Presbyterian Church in Charleston, South Carolina, Bremerton Church of the Nazarene in Bremerton, Washington and Living Hope Church in Monterey, CA.
Your influences?
My Dad, Michael Card, Petra, Audio Adrenaline, DC Talk, Three Crosses, Rebecca St. James, Michael W. Smith, Sixpence none the Richer, PAX217, EarthSuit, The Normals, The Elms, Cademon's Call, Third Day, Switchfoot.
I just like good music performed by people who love what they are doing. Artistry still counts, no matter how much technology is involved, the song has to shine through. I don't hem myself in with a particular style. I try to write what I hear...turns out I hear mostly guitar based pop-rock...;) ...but that's OK. One of the best complements I've recieved from listeners is that all my songs are pretty distinct.

Favorite spot?
Beach or Mountains.
Equipment used:
All kinds of stuff. SONAR, UAD, Charvel, Takamine and Yamaha guitars. Washburn, Line6 and OLP basses. Focusrite and Studio Projects mic pres. Alesis and Frontier Design converters. Lynx Audio cards.
Anything else...?
Anything!

Music
A song about how God's people should be salt and light to the world and make a beautiful noise in praising God so that people notice!
This song is a universal Welcome Home song...but was inspired by my friend Janet Linden's recovery from cancer. This song is actually a companion song to "Janet's Song". More in the "Story behind the song" section...Hope you enjoy it!
A song about our constant need to turn from our sin and reconnect with God. ThanX to Janet Linden for the awesome duet part...Janet you ROCK! ;)
A song about singing, dancing and living for God...our King!
A vertical P&W song focusing on Gods Glory.
A song about how awesome God is...sometimes we don't really ponder God's holiness and glory...we should do that more often.
A song about our failure...and God's promise!
A Praise and Worship song about the Love of God. Nothing is like the love God has for us...Nothing.
A song about seeing a friend struggle with cancer and my attempt to write about it. May God give us all the faith of Job...'Though He slay me yet will I trust Him...'
The song Choir of Heaven with a friend of mine and great singer, Janet Linden singing the lead...much better than my version I think!
A song about singing to God in the Choir of Heaven!
Every felt like you are just 'Here'? That blah feeling of wondering why your life is where it's at or why God put you 'here'?
A Praise and Worship Song...from the heart!
A song whose lyrics were inspired by Psalm 51 and the Worship song 'Create in me a Clean Heart'. Drums by Glennbo!
A song about the relationship I have with the 'lady of my heart....my life'! This is a remix based on input from a great songwriter, Phil Cody(www.zookini.com). I am honored that he took the time to listen!
A song about this world's fascination with secular humanism, evolution and moral relativism.
A little experiment in trance music...what do you think? Should I do more of this? Inspired by a couple of new softsynths I got for Christmas...Peace.
A song about life's struggle and how we can't expect everything to be roses all the time...but God will be there when life hurts!
Finally Finished! Check out the Rain! A song about the cleansing rain of God's forgiveness. Go out and play in the Rain!
A song I wrote when my twin sons were going through neurosurgery for a condition call Arnold Chiari Malformation. A very scary time for the entire family! God has seen us through and the boys are doing well.
A song about how we run from God...and He still wants to catch us.
"CareFree" is a song written about how hard it can be to truly live trusting God!
This song grew out of some discussions with some non-Christian friends...it expresses the frustration many Christians have at seeing their friends just "not getting it". Just Believe. OK? Everything after that takes care of itself! ;)
What being a Christian is all about.ccA good friend John Stokely performed the solo acoustic guitar work! ThanX John!
A plea to God after the tragic events of September 11th. This song is dedicated to those who lost their lives at the WTC, at the Pentagon and in the aircraft used on that horrific day...

Hi Andy, I have to say I got "stuck" on your page. Your songs are "real." They are about "real" experiences in the Christian faith, those struggling to believe, and those who just don't believe. The anointing of the Holy Spirit flows through your music in a mighty way so that one is compelled to worship God. : ) Praise our wonderful Lord for what he is doing through. Great work. Blessings, Cathy

Wow! What a beautiful song!
Good instrumentation and production, and a smack your face message for the web of lies being perpetrated on us in the world today.
Thanks, Andy, for a great song.
