Why this name?
We wanted a name that express the fact that we are fighting for god, and that with Him on our side we are a mighty army.
Do you play live?
Yes, we play at our church as well as all over SW Virgina, Eastern Kentucy, and Eastern Tennesse. We love to sing live more than anything else, to feel God move across the crowd is the most wonderfull thing in the world.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think it has a way of allowing much more exposer for a group than would otherwise be availiable.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes.
Band History:
Legion of Light is from Clintwood, VA, and has been together since 1999.
Through prayer and the support of our families God has given us the faith to press on though
the struggle has been great. We are on a mission from God to reach todays generation through anointed rap and hip-hop
music. We are trying to counter the secular message of drugs, alcohol, and sex, with a message of
Christs love and salvation. We believe that the message of God never changes, but that the way in
which it is delivered MUST CHANGE, that we might continue to reach a lost world for Christ.
Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more
And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law: To them that are without law, as without law,
(being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
To the weak become I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by ALL MEANS SAVE THEM. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
We are also currently working with Rev. Steve Smith to start a church in Pound,VA to minister in a
contemporary style to the young and young at heart in our area. This church is called Harvest
Community Church SWV (South West Virginia) and is affliated with Harvest Community Chrurch in
Kingsport Tennesee, you can find a link to their webite on our links page. Please be in prayer for us
in our music ministery and also for the new church.
