Well, hello there fellow music lover! You've stumbled across one of the bands your mom didn't want you to know about.....Sharp Tooth Benny!
Sharp Tooth Benny consists of former ”Sizzle” front man, Mike “Mac” Mc Laury, belting out lead vocals and grooving’ on rhythm guitar, There’s also fellow songwriter, Terry “ Phat B” Sheppard, previously of “Dr. Joy”, who provides some truly solid bass lines while filling out the vocal harmonies. Well versed former “Saint’s We Ain’t” axe-slinger, “Little Man” Tate Sanderson wails on lead guitar, and talented newcomer Noah “Boom Boom” Bloom keeps things moving on drums/percussion. Special guest appearances are also made on a couple tunes by the incredible, Tim “The Teacher” Fennel of Motus on lead guitar. Mike, Terry and Noah provide a rocking musical foundation to stand on while Tate & Tim fill the grooves with some tasteful yet smoking‘ leads. These guys love to have fun and while the band is primarily blues based, the live-shows exhibit an unusual amount of energy and crowds are often treated to a bit of improv and some wackiness. You never know what might happen at a Sharp Tooth Benny show…

Sharp Tooth Benny’s new CD, “Slinky Sounds For Reptilian Lovers”, is a nine song original CD released in late March, 2006. There’s really something for just about everyone on this diverse release as this album covers a lot of musical ground. From straight blues to heavier rock tunes and a few stops in between, a very diverse group of musicians & friends have joined together to form this band and together Sharp Tooth Benny seems able to fill the void our music world has been feeling. You really have to hear these tunes…

Why this name?
The band is named after a rather large Iguana that was owned by lead singer/rythym guitarist, Mike Mclaury. "Beni-Hana, the Killer Iguana" once nearly bit our old bass players thumb off on one drunken' night after a gig...he was then aptly nick-named..."Sharp Tooth Benny"! We decided when he grew too big to keep anymore...to take the name for ourselves as a tribute and it's stuck ever since...at last check, "Benny" was residing happily at the San Diego Zoo in the Green Iguana exhibit. He'll be the one starin' you down...
Do you play live?
Yes! We play just about anywhere, mostly on the West Coast and in Colorado right now. We love to play live!!! One of our favorite moments so far has been playing with Kermit Ruffin & the New England Brass at Tipitina's in New Orleans, LA. and anytime we play an outdoor festival or charity event.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet has opened big brass doors for Indie musicians to poor through...this is indeed a medium which will change the history of music and music promotion.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Possibly...
Band History:
Sharp Tooth Benny Bio:

Sharp Tooth Benny is a band that all true Blues and Rock enthusiasts should enjoy. Sharp Tooth Benny recently completed their 1st full-length CD release entitled, “Slinky Sounds For Reptilian Lovers”. The music is reminiscent of an early ZZ Top/George Thoroughgood style groove with bits of Social Distortion, AC/DC, Govt. Mule and even hints of Stone Temple Pilots & others slipping in from time to time. While trying to stay true to some basic blues-rock principles with sure-to-be hits like, “Cadillac” , “Big Green Lizard” , “I Never Thought” and “Looker”, Sharp Tooth Benny has also been able to branch out and include some distinct new musical stylings of their own with crowd favorites like, “Little Fishy”, “The Morning Song”, “Everything Girl”, “The Game” and others. This type of musical diversity gives the band a truly eclectic appeal that satisfies their audiences and will satisfy you if you’re looking for something different in a blues band.

Most of Sharp Tooth Benny is currently based in Southern California while band founder, Mike McLaury now resides in Golden, Co. and is working online with “Phat B” on more material for the next CD.
