Chris Mortimer's music is featured extensively on this site and the albums featured are available for purchase via the website www.chrismortimer.com

Chris plays the piano and sings, and most of the current recordings feature his band, however the most recent recording is just him at the piano, singing his originals.

The Chris Mortimer band can be heard on several recordings, most noticeably "Philadelphia Rose". They are session players who include Lee Gray and Lee Webb, both members of the RAAF Band based at Williamtown on the outskirts of Sydney.

In 2007, three new CD's have been released.

The first is a limited release of "Roll Over Now" which was recorded from 1991-1992 with the assistance of Peter and Dennis Gerolymatos.

"Montana" is Chris's longest production which took over a year to complete, and features many older tunes composed in the mid 1990's.

"Piano Sessions 2 - In The Beginning" is the latest compilation of songs with several new compositions including "Here I Am", "Language of Love" and "Times Have Changed". Chris's dad too took the photos of the river Ganges in India, and his sister Georgie took the portraits for the CD cover. The album has received excellent comments and reviews and is a "must have" for fans of piano/ vocal songwriting.

Chris plays in Sydney with Martyn Cook and Anita Hartmann, and has current venues and dates listed on his www.chrismortimer.com website.

Recently The Italian Language Centre based in Brisbane adapted Chris's song "The Rain Is Falling Down" into Italian and the pieces was rearranged and used on a CD released by the organisation.

Chris hopes that his songs can be enjoyed by music lovers all over the world, and that supporters and fans will visit his website and purchase his CD's.
Why this name?
Q was chosen by Chris for simplicity and aimed at the time for corporate entertainment. It became the name of his business, and details of performers and other acts can be seen at www.qmusicaustralia.com.au
Do you play live?
Chris has performed throughout Sydney, and is looking forward to playing more originals gigs in the future.
He plays al over Sydney and details of current and upcoming performances are listed on his website www.chrismortimer.com
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Chris believes the internet has already changed the face of the music industry by providing levels of music access not seen before. The world of the unsigned artist has flourished, however free downloads continue to cause problems.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Chris is enjoying promoting his music on-line and at performances. He is not actively seeking a record deal at present bt spent a large amount of time in the early 1990's persuing a recording deal.
Band History:
Q Music......

Nowdays, Q is a pool of musicians who can be mixed and matched to form any desired configuration. Details of musicians can be seen on www.qmusicaustralia.com.au

Chris Mortimer prefers thesedays to perform as a solo artist, and recently completed a long residency playing piano and singing at The Harbour Rocks Hotel in Sydney.
Your influences?
Chris loves melodic pop - Elton/ Billy but Elton the most, Ben Folds - aggro melodic pop, Bruce Springsteen - lyrics, and Emmylou Harris for words too, George Michael for doing what I do - perform simple pop, yet compose tricky and complex songs, and lots and lots more.
Favorite spot?
Palm Beach - Sydney, Australia. Chris runs along the beach in all seasons and swims. Chris is influenced by the changing moods of the sea, and this theme has appeared in many of his songs including "Here I Am" and "Star Of The Sea".
Equipment used:
Chris uses Calewalk Pro Audio 8 for arrangements, a Roland VS880EX for analogue recording, a Kurzweill PC88 for sounds, and a grand piano for acoustic recordings.
Anything else...?
Chris is hoplessly addicted to Citroens, and has been so since a child. He has three at present, his favourite being a 1977 2CV called Rosie, and she is immaculate and was rescued by Chris from a state of decay and neglect. She was owned previously by a member of Sydney Symphony Orchestra who died, and the car was sold to Chris by his partner, a piano teacher.

Chris Loves cooking, and watches dvds all the time teaching new recipies. He loves Rick Stein and Antonio Carluccio the most.
