Born in Jamaica, WI - Tygon is a new breed of businessman and artist. Tygon has been producing groundbreaking instrumentals in the urban domain for a solid five years. That would be eight years if you count from when he made his first beat in 1998. Tygon specializes in Reggae riddimz and Hip-Hop beats, but he's no stranger to RnB. As an up and coming reggae artist, Tygon has ripped stages in New York and Toronto.
Why this name?
It's somewhat simple: If I had to compare myself as a person and as an artist to members of the animal kingdom... I would be a mixture of a Tiger and a Lion. Hence, TYGON! Now TBK is not so simple to explain but it's an abbreviation of The Beat Kemist.
Do you play live?
Tygon currently plays live on his MPC and on his MIDI Keyboard almost everday @ the "Kemistry Lab Studio" in Toronto.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The MP3 format allows music lovers to get what they want cheaper (or free) until the traditional record biz heads find a way to control the trade. MP3s on the internet also allow undiscovered talent to broadcast their work and be heard without wasting money on pressing and storing CDs. I guess I'll only feel robbed by MP3s once I'm a millionaire.... interesting no?
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Geez... if they're still deducting 10% for broken vynl on release of my CD album... then probably not. There's other ways to be exploited for money you know!!
Your influences?
Bob Marley, Dr. Dre, DMX, Will Smith, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, T-Amazin & G-Wizz, Sizzla.
Favorite spot?
Miami. Big up to my boy DJ IRIE! "Miami's Chief Rocker"--XXL

Anything else...?
Yo! All you beat-stealing, credit-stealing, idea-stealing so called 'fellow musicians,' prepare for your reckoning. Living off the hard work of others will bring you to a violent end. The easy road leads nowhere!
