Why this name?
We're Strictly representing the crescent. The crescent was the symbol used by the great Islamic Uthmani Empire. The Islamic Empire/Caliphate was the hieght of civilization from the 13th Century up until it's collapse during the 1rst World War; spanning 3 continents, Africa, Europe, and Asia.
Do you play live?
We live here on the planet Earth, which was created by Allah as a place for man to exercise himself in the eternal struggle of good and evil. If our soul is developed properly here on Earth then we will achieve our higher state in the next life, our destination is Jennah/Heaven/paradise.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Illegally downloading has seriously damaged the hip-hop industry. Artists used to be able to biuld anticipation for upcoming albums, and people would be lined up in front of the store upon it's release date, and you would be hit with the album all at once. Now, kids with computers get the albums before the streets even get a chance to hear it. Artists who used to sell 300,000 like Rass Kass and Canibus were dropped from their labels because they couldn't sell enough albums to make up for their music being bootlegged.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
MC-Motown yes.
Abdul-Infinite no.
Abdul-Infinite no.
Band History:
Allah brought Abdul-Infinite and MC Motown together by his devine decree. Artists consist of the same soul group, and immediately the connection between the artists was felt. The energy level vibrated at such a high level that they could no longer just freestyle over random beats and discuss the creation of the universe for their own benefits. The two Muslim brothers eventually had to take their friendship to the next level and bear their souls on wax.
Your influences?
Out of the mold of the 80's and 90's conscious/Islamic hip-hop. Mos Def, Rakim, Nas, Talib Kweli, Dead Prez, Poor Righteous Teachers, Rass Kass, Tribe Called Quest, etc.
Abdul-Infinite is an old school hip-hop head, only new artists in his collection is group -Outlandish-.
MC Motown still an avid hip-hop head. His favorite artists range the whole globe, East, West, South, Midwest, and even artists outside of America.
