Sarcus Blackwater has been around since 1991 playing original music and some cover tunes for many concerts locally and in other surrounding states. We pride ourselves on our originality and tone. We hope you enjoy the music and allow yourself to determine what catagory we are...rock, country, etc. or as we call ourselves...C-ROCK.
Why this name?
As a young boy from a family of coal miners in West Virgina I was bit by a ratttle snake on Sarcus mountain. The first name Sarcus(from the mountain I survived) & Blackwater (from the coal that was washed from the mines). This name represents hard work, survivers, and determination for life.
Do you play live?
Yes. Mostly, local fairs, universities, businesses, clubs, resturants, resorts, and parties. I love to play for people who can honestly appreciate what we do. The most special moment playing was for my financee's local music store bash where we offered free advertising on the radio, trading journal publication, and flyers that brought in people from everywhere who danced and loved to hear us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I feel that in some ways it helps to promote musicians. It is also hurts the musicans in the manner of respect and lack of credit for their versitily. As a young boy, I bought the artist's entire album to get the one song I wanted or heard. However; I learned to truly appreciate the artist's versitily and style by listening to the rest of the songs on the album. This would not have happened if I would have been able to just "download" the one song I wanted.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes,as a writer or performer with conditions agreed upon by both parties at the time of offer.
Your influences?
I am inspired by many artists and all flavors of music. My original music is a combination of it all...bits & pieces fom here and there. Some of my favorites are Journey, AC/DC, George Strait, Bad Company, Jim Croche, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, Styx, Bee Gees, Steve Miller, Lynard Skynard, Vanzant, and Johnny Lang.
Favorite spot?
Right here in the beautiful mountains of WV.
