I'm one of the founders of a Bay Area based entertainment group known as Trix of the Trade (www.myspace.com/bayareatrix). I concentrated mostly on dancing in my younger years, i.e. popping, locking, and bboying, trying to accomplish great things in it. Music has always been a big part of my life, however I didn't start taking it seriously until recently. My only goal is to be as comfortable in my music as I am in my dance.
Why this name?
My name in the funk and bboy world is megaMIKE. I figure I'll just use my real name with the singing..haha.
Do you play live?
Yes. Anywhere I can. I love playing for people. Special moments?..a few, but you gotta ask and maybe I'll share them.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives a chance for upcoming artists, like myself, to expose their music to the entire world. It really has opened new doors for the industry.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course.
Favorite spot?
My studio or my room.
Equipment used:
I work off of Pro Tools 7 and the MBox1. Which is connected to my IMac G5. I have a pair of Rokit 8 studio monitors and most importantly..my Blue Baby Bottle Mic, which is housed in my vocal booth lined with Auralex foam.
Anything else...?
TRIX OF THE TRADE..emcees, the illest dancers, singers, musicians, produecers, clothing designers, dj's, graff artists, artists..what more do you want? www.myspace.com/bayareatrix
