Dois Caipirinhas consists of singer Nilcee and singer/guitarist Dale.
Why this name?
Caipirinha is one of the current trendy drinks in New York, made from Cachaça/ Pinga which is Brazilian rum, limes and sugar. The literal meaning of the word in Brazil, translates as something similar to a rube, hick or country bumpkin. In other words, an unsophiticated person. Nilcee thought Dois Caipirinhas was an appropriate name because although we play in New York City, Nilcee is originally from a small town in Brazil and Dale is originally from New Jersey.
Do you play live?
Right now we play every Friday night at Girassol Steak House in Astoria, Queens. Many of the customers are from Brazil and it is always a good feeling when they sing along or show their appreciation for songs that are not commonly performed in the U.S.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For one thing, physical distance is no longer a barrier to checking out what musicians are doing in various parts of the world. It also allows collaborations between musicians who are in different areas.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Why not?
Band History:
Dale has played with various bands, including Soundclick's own Suicidal Poets. In 2001 he felt compelled to learn some Brazilian music and answered an ad placed by Nilcee.
Nilcee had always enjoyed singing, but had never performed in public. That led to a gig in downtown Manhattan with what ended up as a 5 piece band in Aug 2001. Two weeks later, Dale moved to California, but circumstances caused him to return to NY 3 years later. Kicking a few songs around turned into a weekly gig and writing original material.

Your influences?
Astrud Gilberto, Elis Regina, Tom Jobim, Nara Leão, Carlos Santana, Pink Floyd, Mr. Jackman
Favorite spot?
New York City, of course!
Equipment used:
Just an acoustic guitar through a small amp.
Anything else...?
We are writing original material. We wanted to get up on Soundclick so we are starting by putting a few of our favorite cover songs up. This is a project that's in it's early stages. Although performing as a duo is convenient, eventually it might be nice to have a rhythym section or other instrumentation.
