Doctor Oakroot was born in a taxi with no brakes and, he says, "I been rollin' ever since... I rolled down to Hell... grabbed up the Devil by his tail and brought back these rough-edged songs from a dark place in the soul." Songs that will haunt your dreams.
Why this name?
'Doctor' cause I'm a doctor of mojo. 'Oakroot' is a very shortened form of the name given to me by my spirit guide.
Do you play live?
As much as possible... everything from busking to big venues. It's all good.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Jury's still out on that - maybe not at all - maybe it's a revolution
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably not.

I picked up a guitar and started singin'... and that's about it (well OK, I was 3 years old and it was a ukulele, lol)

Well, I don't sound like my influences (even slightly)... I do sound (slightly) like Robert Johnson, Keb Mo, Muddy Waters, B B King

Quirky homemade guitars and other homemade and found object instruments. This includes cigar box guitar and bass, gourd banjos, gourd jug/shaker, Tic Tac box kazoo.
