Why this name?

I have always loved the moon and the rain, so why not combine the two? Lunar Storm. I did change my name to Lunar Sadness for a while because of my ongoing war with depression, but later changed it back to Lunar Storm.

Do you play live?

I've never played live and I'm not sure if I ever will honestly. Perhaps one day I will if I feel like it. The closest I've come to playing live was in a friends garage with like 15 people standing around. I seem to lack the consistency and outgoing shogun personality necessary for playing live.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

It allows the underground to be easier to access. It levels the playing field. Even a loner and an unpopular wretch such as myself can be heard by thousands of people.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would consider it, but only if I have complete control over my music. But yeah, it would be cool to have my albums released by a record label one day.

Band History:

My musical projects have been a work-in-progress for years (since probably around 1996). One day (I'm not sure exactly when), I decided it would be cool to have different musical projects. In the beginning, I only had a handful of projects, including the oldest project OBLIVION WINTERS. Then steadily over the years my projects have grown to number to over 30. Every once in a while I force myself to clean up and get rid of projects that either are too similar to other projects or dormant. I started out recording songs with an alarm clock radio, then an analog 4 track (Fostex), then a digital 4 track with 32 virtual tracks (Zoom MRS-4), now an 8 track digital recorder (Zoom MRS-8) with 80 virtual tracks (Zoom MRS-8). I also program drums for every project using a Zoom MRT-3.

Your influences?

There are far too many that have influenced me in the past and present to list here. My main musical influences are King Diamond, Mercyful Fate and Amorphis. Amorphis and My Dying Bride introduced the concept of using lead patterns in my music. Lead guitar style was heavily influenced by Michael Denner, Chuck Schuldiner, and Andy LaRocque in the early days. Recently, Lanvall has been definitely influencing my playing. I think it would be safe to say that every breath I have ever taken on this wretched planet has influenced my music. It's difficult to make original music in this age. It really isn't a conscious effort on my part to create, it just happens. Almost like wishes being fulfilled by an old arcane wishing well that resides in the dark abysmal center of my being. Ok, I'll stop now.... All I know is that I live to create and I don't know what I would do without my creativity. I don't want to be a rockstar. I don't even want to tour the world. I just want to keep creating and to give myself and others something new to listen to.

Favorite spot?

Astoria, Oregon is my dream location. I'm liking Utah so far. The mountains are awesome and the thunderstorms are cool. It doesn't hurt that I get to watch most of my favorite teams on tv as well.
