If you have'nt heard, KRISIS MAXIMUS is recognized as one of America's most talented Unsigned Emceez. With more than 13 years experience in writing, 6 years of music production and critical acclaim from renowned National magazine publications "THE SOURCE" & "RAPSHEET" , KRISIS MAXIMUS is armed and ready to change the urban music culture FOREVER!!!
Why this name?
POWER.
Do you play live?
I've appeared in shows with serious exposure. I appeared in the "The Source Unsigned Hype Battle" on National Television on April 28th, 2001. I was also a finalist in the BET MC WORLD CUP
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It makes the playing field much more competitive, the drawback though is that you get millions of people who suck trying to be artist and the truly talented get lost in the shuffle.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
The question is "Will Major labels wake up and realize that I should be signed?"
Band History:
I GREW UP LISTENING TO……. Rakim & Krs-One. To me, those are the greatest Emceez of all time. No one else even comes close. They always rhymed on a godly level, and in my opinion, were way ahead of their times.
TODAY I LISTEN TO……… Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Pharoah Monch, Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, & The Roots.
I RESENT COMPARISONS BUT…… I have been compared to a mix of all the greats like Krs-One, Kool G Rap, Canibus and Nas ( like I said I resent comparisons).
I GOT STARTED…… At the age of 7, writing poetry. Even then I possessed an apocalyptic style of writing. My poems painted grim images of doom and destruction. I studied the styles of all the great emcees, and each day, I would continually develop my skillz, writing constantly. By the time I was 13, I started to get into various battles and competitions with local emcees. My lyrics were (and still are) far superior to the Emceez in my area. Without question, my skills were well recognized, but many people tried to discourage me by reminding me that nobody has ever made it out of Niagara Falls. The naysayers took pleasure in telling me that I wouldn’t be the first. Determined to prove them wrong, I went back to the lab and worked on my craft with a fire-like intensity. I met the challenges head on. By the time I was 15, two indie labels were in the running to sign me. By the time I was 16, two more came after me. The following year I was an inch close to signing with another indie label but the deal was not to my liking, And I walked away. Best decision I ever made. For the past few years my focus has been on educating myself spiritually, perfecting my rhyme-style and taking my concepts to another level. I told myself that I would not go after my goal full-force again, until the time was right. After 13 years of emceeing THE TIME IS RIGHT NOW. I refuse to let any obstacle stand in my way.
I ……. Consider myself to be much more than just a battle emcee. I am very versatile, and on top of everything, I have ALOT to say.
MY GOAL IS……….. To directly impact and change Hip-hop forever. It’s a lofty goal, but I believe the concepts that I have in store are not being done nor have they been done on a major-scale to my knowledge. I know without a shadow of a doubt, with the CORRECT marketing and promotion, these ideas will catch on like wildfire. The next-level concepts I will introduce have a cinematic feel that captivates, yet with the many facets of my repertoire, will touch not just one region, but the entire country and eventually THE WORLD, all the while maintaining the mystical elements that identify my unique artistic make-up.
