Prison City Records consists of myself, Larry Luv and Mike Nice of Nice productions. We both have various musical interests and histories. About two years ago the studio/label was just an idea and now with some luck and persistence its a reality. We mostly produce other artists as well as do our own tracks as well.
Why this name?
Were from Auburn NY a city in central NY that has a giant prison in the center of town, a few blocks from one of the oldest graveyards in the US, henceforth the crow problem, Auburn is known as prison city, because its the home of the first execution by electric chair and the running joke, the longer your here the harder it is to escape. Plus its catchy.
Do you play live?
Personally I wont, Mike on the other hand probably would. We haven't ruled it out of the mix yet.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think that if we can get our music out to people would otherwise never hear us, definitly, its what its all about, and making some loot aint bad either.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It all depends.
Your influences?
Larry Luv: Phil Oches, The Ramones, Jim Croche, Hendrix, The Doors, ICP, Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, NWA, Dre, The Cure, Trent Reznor, Dead Kennedies, Rollins, Suicidal Tendencies, and Many More...
Favorite spot?
Tinkers. Robbins. Auburn.
Equipment used:
Triton Extreme 88, Pro tools LE, condenser mic for now, looking into more equipment soon though.
