Why this name?
Ojay came from my initials OJM
Do you play live?
Yeh play out live...If the price is right
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Its hot man it gives exposure to us up n coming artists, lets people see whos really out there.
Predictions are that the Record Labels will all 'migrate' to the net soon and cut out the middle men much cheaper and easier for people to get noticed.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course the answer is yes but only if the contract was right, i aint gonna be no fool and take the first thing thrown infront of me, this is my music!
Band History:
Coming from Norwich UK, you wouldnt automatically think hip hop would be a priority in a guys life but for OJay hip hop IS life. With liking music a lot beforehand OJay hit 15 and family troubles made him turn to music to find another way of life and to get away from what was going on, he started off writing rhymes in class just for fun because he liked what he heard in hip hop music, these rhymes grew and grew eventually recording very rough tunes using hip hop ejay and a cheap computer mic. After a year of making these rough tunes OJay wanted to take it further and bought some decks to start adding his tunes to mixes also upgrading the software used to Reason 2.5 and enrolling on a course in music college. At music college OJay learnt the ins and outs of Reason 2.5 and eventually Reason 3 and moved onto Cubase SX3 all the while learning how to DJ and Scratch getting various gigs in clubs around east anglia (Optic Norwich, Lava/Ignite, Zest Ipswich and University of East Anglia to name a few) all the while still writing rhymes eventually hooking up with Arkaic to record The Tribute which was a tune dedicated to everyone involved in the July 7th attacks on London, this tune got picked out by the BBC, OJay and Arkaic performed this tune for BBC Blast in August 2005. Continuing to produce OJay has now worked with many artists both inside and outside the Visionary Records roster including Merchant (LockDown Ent/Dipset Canada),Syanide (NYC), Def 1 (UK).
