Why this name?
I choose the name Shrapnell, because my peeps call me Souljah, and I thought it'd be symbolic, because my grandfather died in the war from fragments of sharp metal.
Do you play live?
Nah, I dont sing or do shows, but i'd like to get into small clubs, like a poets corner or some ish, and just let loose with my poetic touch.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
For sure, because now in this game, tapes are the way to go, mixtapes I mean, touring, but CD sales will decrease, ultimately, because, well, i get all my songs from the internet, ya know!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If it came up, sure, but it'd have to be the right deal, i mean, i wouldnt sign something like 10 cents per albulm, when the artist pretty much does all the work. Id proly open my own private label, get more cheddar.
Your influences?
Im not instrumentally inclined, but I love to do Collabs with other artists and jam that way. I am just an emcee, but lyrically, I can touch any theme or topic, and speak the truth about it. Thats me in a nut shell.
