The band was originally called All In One and was formed in the late 80s. A lot of the songs featured were performed solely by me or by me and a great singer called Michelle. We were heavily into New Jack Swing/hip-hop soul & Funk (Punkfunk), whereas (at the time) the rest of band believed that sort of music was going nowhere and just wanted to do UK soul.
I wrote and performed all of the songs myself. A couple of companies attempted to sign us but being an ignorant group of black Londoners we imploded the second the contracts came through the post.
I've probably written over 1000 songs and have a high "scrap-rate" because I'm fussy. I only like people to hear songs of mine that I still like a few weeks down the road.

Why this name?
I chose the band name (originally Adikshon) whilst browsing through some records in an Our Price Music Store. It just came to me. It was like I had a vision of our records (under that name)being sold in that shop. Then when I got home I realised the name All In One was the Bold washing powder slogan. You gotta laugh.
Do you play live?
We did play live many years ago but not anymore. These days I write & produce for other artists.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives control to the artist. You just have to look at the likes of Prince (who was the highest earning artist of 2004) who releases most of his material via the net these days.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Not sure if there's any point to it anymore. If you've got the talent you'll make it in the end without a major as a result of the internet.
Band History:
Formed in about 1988, the band featured a number of lead vocalists (namely myself, Michelle and Jasmin). Steven on guitar/ keyboards, myself on bass/ keyboards and other guest musicians such as Kelvin & Michael on drums.
Your influences?
Prince, James Brown, Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam, Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Jodeci, Teddy Riley, George Clinton, Steely Dan, The Beatles, My Father and Grandfather.
Favorite spot?
Melbourne in Australia. I still have a studio in London but live in Liverpool.
Equipment used:
Mostly computer based these days. Virtual instruments, etc. But the songs I've put on this website were recorded using mostly Roland & Casio Keyboards, an Atari ST and a Tascam Porta 05 4 track (I think that's what it was called).
Anything else...?
I've been working in the studio in Australia with a number of different artists with varying levels of success.
I've posted these songs in memory of my father who passed away just before Christmas. It's kind of in memory of the many weekends I chose to spend with him talking about old times in Jamaica when I could have been working on my music. I now know I made the right choice and wouldn't give up those memories for anything. Love you dad......
