My name is Andrew Thomas better known as A.T. aka Sound Effect in the music industry. I was born in Austin, Texas but moved when I was 1 year old to Indianapolis, Indiana where I rep the "WESTSIDE" of Naptown, Indy all day. I didn't really start buildin that love for music until I got into 7th grade when I began buyin CD's. Freshman year I began rappin and writin songs, but it was all just for the fun of it at the time; just something to do in my spare time ya dig. You can pretty much call it the year when my raps were weak as f***. It wasn't until the end of my Sophmore year in May 2005, that I got serious into rappin. People said that I real coo for an amateur, so I kept up with the damn thing, practicin pretty much nonstop. That summer I was introduced to the recordin software, Sony ACID Music Studio 5.0, over at my nigga's crib. Later that summer I bought the software along with a cheap Altec Lansing headphone microphone and began recordin and mixin/editin tracks. This recordin software has taught me alot of the key basics to mixin/editin tracks and I highly recommend it to those who wish to begin recordin and mixin/editin their own tracks. Movin along, durin the middle of my Junior year in January 2006, I had started workin on my demo called SOUND EFFECT now that I had bought my new home studio equipment (check my "Home Studio Equipment" blog). I had realized that by buildin my own home studio from scrap, I'd be savin money due to the fact that studio time costs a pretty penny and I'd be able to record a track at anytime that I wanted. After recordin a couple of tracks for the demo, I had fallen off from music because I had lost somewhat of an interest for it. At this time, I decided to stop workin on the SOUND EFFECT demo.
After takin a break from music, I hooked up wit my n*** Deon Jones better known as Majestic aka D. Anthony later my junior year in May 2006. From May 2006 to May 2007, together we recorded I Will Rock You, Bounce, Chill Wit Me, I Came To Bring The Pain (Majestic SOLO), Let Me Rip This feat. Troop, More 9's Than A Freshman Center feat. Sir Rich & Troop, Got My Name On That Cake (A.T. SOLO), U Can't F*** Wit My Click (Majestic SOLO), Top Notch, I'm About My Business (A.T. feat. Troop & Avarice), Intruder Pt. 1 (Majestic SOLO), A.T.'s Goin To War (I.C.E.M.A.N. Diss - A.T. SOLO) and You Can Try (A.I. & I.C.E.M.A.N. Diss). In July 2007, we both joined Hype Squad Records. Hype Squad Records consists of myself, Majestic, Luxury, Weezy P, Nick Justice, Lil Ellis and Tastic. Luxury and Weezy P are currently workin on a mixtape that will be promoted by B. Swift!!! WE MAKIN MOVES OVER HERE!!!
When it comes to producin beats, I first started when I bought ACID Sony Music Studio 5.0 back in June 2005. At the time I would use loops to produce my beats but that soon got old. I felt like I was basically stealing other's patterns to cook up my own sh*** ya dig. I then upgraded to Kinetic Cakewalk. After producin only six beats, I soon realized that the software was child's play. In September 2006, I bought Propellerhead Reason 3.0. Sadly to say, I rarely f***ed with the software until June 2007. I'm now fully on my grind and every beat keeps gettin better, so watch out for ya boi!!!
I'm now enrolled at Purdue University in the Krannert School of Management workin on my major in Management, minor in Management Information Systems (MIS) and certificate in Entrepreneurship. I'm currently workin on startin my production label, Sound Effect Productions. It's not official yet until I get the logo and copyright for both my artist name and label together.

Why this name?
I got A.T. from abbreviating my name, Andrew Thomas. I got Sound Effect from the name of a record label that I'd like to start durin college called Sound Effect Records. Put them together, you get A.T. aka Sound Effect.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Hell yea!!! Then I'd branch off and start Sound Effect Productions and then Sound Effect Records even though I'm currently in the progress of doing so.
