Welcome to Ofui. The music is rough. The genre is vague. The lyrics are largely improvised. The meaning is in the mind of the listener. The introduction is pretentious. There is no spork.
Why this name?
Purely for the ambigrammatical possibilities inherent in the web address "ofui.info".
Do you play live?
Of course! How else is music meant to get from the brain into the recording? But not in public. Not yet.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows musicians to get their music to a larger audience - and makes it a *lot* easier for bands to get information to their listeners. But, yeah, there's piracy. Or copyright infringement, at least - there are very few literal pirates on the internet. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Sure. For all the fun and control of independence, there's nothing like letting someone else take over most of the distribution and promotion.
Your influences?
Ofui's influences are rather embarassing - and thus will not be referred to here. Hopefully nature has more influence than nurture.
Favorite spot?
Glasgow. West end. The Ubiquitous Chip.
Equipment used:
Anything at hand - several cheap guitars. A piano. A comb. The mouth. The ankles. A PS-04. Matchsticks. A moothie.
