An artist/ producer with a distinct production style and a deft use of words - somthing uniquely his, with a flow that successfully mixes the deeply sacred and undoubtedly street...
Why this name?
The name Tryumf came about when I was watching a Wu Tang Clan music video called "Triumph" I saw the title on the screen and liked it and thought that it should be a name, then I looked at my typewriter and the make was called Triumph as I looked at it the thought came to me that I should be called Triumph! I changed the spelling because I knew the name was quite popular and I then found out that the way I had spelt it was how Triumph was spelt in Polish!
Do you play live?
Back in March 2004 I performed in front of about 10,000 at the Earls Court "Urban Music Festival" (that was a trip! Saw my face on the BIG screen!) and did various other gigs around the country including the legendary Jazz Café, Camden Town, UK.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Yeah, it makes it fair play in the industry, more freedom, it's a good thing.
Band History:
Born and raised in Clapham, South London, Dwayne Tryumf has been involved in music production and rapping since '97 with his involvement in the secular rap group Magic Circle under the name Conspiracy. He became a born again Christian in '99 and after a wilderness period of growing in his relationship with God and His Word he then began Christian music ministry. In 2000 he began working for a UK based reggae record label 'Jetstar Records' as an engineer / producer. In 2003 he was signed to Jetstar Records as an artist and producer and produced tracks with a number of reggae artists, being the producer for the smash hit "Incense Riddim" album which also crossed over to the Japanese market!
Dwayne also featured on Lacrae's US Billboard number 1 selling gospel album "Rebel" on the lead single called 'Don't Waste Your Life'. This was the first Christian rap album to go to number 1 in the US Billboard Gospel Charts and was voted the number 1 Christian Rap song in 2009 on the DJ Wade-O peoples top 100. It was also used as entrance music at the 2009 'Ultimate Fighter Championships'.
On March 12th 2010 Dwayne unleashed his second album called “777 (Mark of the Peace)” which rocketed to number 1 in R&B and number 3 on the Hip Hop US Amazon charts and was top 10 in 3 different countries on the apple.com iTunes charts. In the UK he reached number 1 in the UK Amazon MP3 Hip Hop charts and 12th overall best selling album on Amazon UK topping Lady Gaga in the same week she was in the UK! The album received a rare 5 stars from Dasouth.com and was declared 'remarkably good, nearly perfect' by Rapzilla.com. The album features UK Christian artists like Jahaziel, Reign of Fire, 'Incognito' lead singer Tony Momrelle, Muyiwa, Ryan Carty, Copeland Green, production from US producer Lee Jerkins, comedy skits from Comedian Chris and much more.
