Architects of the Atmosphere
NEWS   Great News...Architects of the Atmosphere will have their entire CD, "Ionization" played on the renowed ambient radio program Ultima Thule. Here's how the program is described on the site:

Over sixteen years later Ultima Thule is the longest running programme of its type in Australia, and is firmly established as one of the country's foremost alternative music programmes, enthralling audiences with a unique, entrancing melange of ambient and atmospheric music from around the world and across the ages.

Each broadcast of Ultima Thule is presented as a 90 minute ambient soundscape narrative, with minimal announcer interruption.

Ultima Thule is broadcast live from the Sydney studios of 2MBS-FM and re-broadcast by 5MBS-FM in Adelaide every Sunday evening from 10.30pm - midnight

The programs are also uploaded onto the web for 8 weeks. I think the program featuring AoA will be available in 2 weeks. If interested, you can go to the Ultima Thule site (ultimathule.info)you'll be able to enjoy the program on the 28th, after it's aired on terrestial radio, August 20-27 or download a pod cast of the program.

We've also received word that AoA will be played on Acid Rain Radio. Acid Rain Radio is a Live365 station, playing some of the best ambient/down tempo material available.

As independent artists, working to secure a record deal we are really honored to be a part of these programs that have played some of the greatest ambient music in history, from Tangerine Dream to Boards of Canada and everything in between. We hope you'll tune in and let us know what you think.

Architects of the Atmosphere is the ambient/electronic project of David Rullo and Richard Reifenstein. The band was formally known as Cyberia.
Why this name?
Architects of the Atmosphere was used in reference to a story on NPR. We decided to switch names after finding several other bands with the same name.
Do you play live?
We have played live although most of our performances will now be web based.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It's completely changed the way bands are heard and music is purchased. Record labels are the formula of the past. All artists are now on a level playing field.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No.
Band History:
Architects of the Atmosphere have performed together for close to two years. Before forming this ambient project Rullo and Reifenstein wrote and recorded as Digital Buddha and Evolving Mechanix.
Their music is influenced by Tangerine Dream, Peter Namlook, Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, The Orb, Pink Floyd and countless others.
The band began improvising live electronic ambient pieces but quickly evolved to their present state. Their music is written in the studio by improvising live and then taking the basic tracks, editing and reworking them, adding instrumentation, soft synths, sequencers, etc.
Architects of the Atmosphere currently has two CDs availabe, "Stellar Evolution" and "Signals from Cydonia" and are working on their newest release "Galileo's Moons" which will be released on Rullo's label, Orbiting Vertex.
