SPLASH!!
Here's a new sound in spoken word. Andre' N. Jones A.K.A. Drizzrod brings you a smorgesboard of artistic sound to open minds and shed light on the way he sees life. From sung hymns to urban life and political commentary it's all here in "Verbal Light." Listen, learn, laugh and lap up the interplay, intelligence and talent of this artist.
Why this name?
Drizzrod is a combination of Andre's first name and his middle name (?).
Do you play live?
I perform every now and again. In Philly at open mics and occassionally in Delaware. I love performing before a live audience. It gives you an opportunity to have people participate in the magic of your creativity. One time I was the featured Poet at the House of Ra open mic in Philly the energy was phenominal.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet alows more artists access to an audience world wide without a lot of expense. We can focus on creating without being on someone else's timeline.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Probably. But I would more than likely only want distribution. I would still want to maintain creative control.
Band History:
A native of Philadelphia, Andre' N. Jones began writing in the eighth grade, at the beconing of his English teacher Mrs. Conover. Since then Andre' has gone on to write many poems, a few screenplays and even some music. A devoted husband and father of three, Andre' spends at least an hour each night writing. Andre believes, to quote a phrase from his friend and noted author Charles Fuller, "If writing is what you have to do then you'll finish." "Stories have a way of not letting us rest unless we finish them." Those are the words he reflects on everytime he puts pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Andre' says, "Every story worth telling is worthy of the nightly sacrifice.... It's like putting change in a piggy bank." "You keep putting the work in until one day you have something of worth to work with." Andre' writes about the human condition, science fiction, political bafoonary and comedy. He says he tries to base everything on little stuff. Andre' likes to write about stuff that people skip over, because they're too busy to empathize or even listen to one another.

Verbal Light is the first recorded installment of the artist's soul. Andre' prays y'all can feel him as he provides an alternative to fast-food radio and subliminal suggestion. To quote him: "Music and art should set captives free,so be free y'all.... Be free."
Verbally Yours,

Andre' N. Jones A.K.A. Drizzrod

Ursula Rucker, The Roots, Bobby McFarin, A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, The Last Poets etc...
Favorite spot?
Philly. It's my hometown and there's so much untapped flavor there.
Equipment used:
I primarily use my voice as an instrument as well as to verbally convey my messages. I construct beats vocally and on my keyboard. I use my keyboard to create accompanying sounds and textures as well but voice is my first instrument of choice.
Anything else...?
I like to make people think and up lift with my music. Listen and even if you don't feel it just think on it a little while and share it with someone else.
