Hey, my name is AJ Peacox. No, that is not a stage name. I recently turned 15 and am ready to rock the New Year!
Why this name?
Well, here I'm using my own name, but I've also been known to use "the 13 hour drive" on purevolume.com. That name came from a lyric in the song "There is" by Boxcar Racer.
Do you play live?
I play at various open mic.'s around San Diego. Venues I've rocked include Hot Java Cafe, It's A Grind Cafe, The Metaphor Cafe, The Coffee Bean Cafe, Twiggs Cafe, and, in brockport, NY, Java Junction Cafe. I love playing live and I'm not going to stop ever. I've also played at parties and events such as the Hot Rod Harris's Acoustic Roundtable. (I also tried to sneek into the acoustic alliance).
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Sites like Purevolume, Myspace, and Soundclick make it GREAT for musicians to spread their music all over the world without even leaving their room. For example, the band Daphne Loves Derby would have never made it so popular with their debut album if it hadn't been for their 2million + hits on their Purevolume site.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES! I would sign to any record label if the opportunity came up. It's my life's dream!
Band History:
Well, I was born December 21st, 1990. I wrote my first song in kintergarten called "little spiders". It won an award in the Reflections contest. I learned how to play a recorder in 3rd grade for a Beethoven play. I started playing Alto Sax in 5th grade and now I play Bari Sax in 9th grade. I got my first bass on my 13th birthday and I began playing guitar at open mics in March of 05'. I'm beginning to write songs that don't suck, so maybe someday you'll see me on MTV cribbs or getting Punk'd by Ashton Kutcher. ^__^
Your influences?
I draw alot from bands like Dashboard Confessional, Daphne Loves Derby, The Rocket Summer, Blink-182, and lots of others. Really, I draw from anyone and everyone. Right now my shows are heavily acoustic, but I'd love to get a full band to play some of my songs.
Favorite spot?
Hot Java Cafe in San Diego. San Diego is the best! There's nowhere I'd rather have grown up.
Equipment used:
For Basses I use a Fender Aerodyne J Bass and a Mark Hoppus sig. P Bass.
For Guitars I use a Gibson SG II and a Taylor 614.
For Drums I have a verve drum kit... I don't know much about drums, but it has everything basic.
For Amplification I use a Fender Rumble Bass Amp and a Mesa Venture bass amp. I also use a Realistic mixer and a Sennheiser microphone. And I if I want - an egg shaker or cell phone or something...
Anything else...?
It's my dream to do this for a living and even if I never make it (knock on wood) I'll still be doing this still the day I die!
