Marleana Williams – Journey has been inspired by many things. Growing up in an abusive childhood , she and her older sister ran away from their shackles and she embarked on a journey called poetry. Her words now hope to inspire others to survive this journey through life. Her only ambition being to give back to the people and others who have helped her along the way. Whether these words bring tears, feel good vibrations or inpsiration to pick a pen and write, these words speak of a survivor's life, through music, rhythymn, words, and emotion. She hopes to take you on a journey that you can groove to, relate to, and flow with.
Why this name?
Journey is my local poet name... I chose that name because that is what my life and writing career has been to me ... A journey of growth, renewal, self -discovery and empowerment ... It embodies my future and restores my past in one word, "Journey" ... My "soon to be released" poetry CD will be entitiled "On This Journey" ... I think it's fittting..... I just want people to open their ears and minds and enjoy the ride ... Wanna Ride???
Do you play live?
Detroit city is where I rest... There are truly diamonds here, that no one has seen or heard. Outside of the "hood", yet within the "inner city streets", lies a heartbeat that continues to thump loudly. If you look you will find beauty. Unfortunately not many take a look, they just glance, that is why I am such big supporter of local artists and encourage others to take a long, hard look, into the "D".

Band History:
Writing has been a passion of mine for years, but spoken word, entered my life about 3 years ago. You can find me @ local poetry venues,"Magnolia Key Club" , "Meetery Eatery", "Half Past Three", and others. These spots where I go for what I call my "therapy sessions" ... Along with my personal project, I sing with an awesome gospel group called "Chosen A'Capella" ... It has been a wonderful journey for me, and I thank God everyday for allowing me to share my gift with many...
Your influences?
I Love smooth mellow sounds ... Soul music is the greatest...From the 60's to present it has always embodied empowerment, and inspirational tones. If I had to be labeled it would be "Poetry Fusion" the combination of poetry and melody.
Favorite spot?
My favorite city as of right now would have to be Detroit of course ... but right now I am really loving Orlando, FL ... They have a beautiful night scene and welcoming vibe, if u ever go check out "DJ Mickey, he's the hottest DJ @ Club Tabu ...
