Ed McGuirl plays traditional and original blues and roots music. With influences that include everything from classical and jazz to Celtic, old timey and blues he has played in a jazz trio, a jug band, spent 10 years playing Irish traditional music, performs solo or as a duet, has done session work for various artists and has written and produced a number of award winning songs. He would be a rich and famous folk and blues musician if it wasn't an oxymoron.
Why this name?
It was given to me by my parents!
Do you play live?
I play live when I get gigs but don't push it. At 57 years old don't have any star aspirations but will never stop playing music. since I was 20 years old I have considered the various jobs that I have held to be the things I do to continue doing what I love which is playing music.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Makes getting music out more accessible, more of a chance to be heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Don't know, what is MAJOR label?
