Dan The Narc is a producer and MC. The music speaks for itself.
Why this name?
It's my name. I did not choose it.
Do you play live?
I play house parties and battle of the bands and have some real shows booked for early next next year. Recording is fun, and cool to listen to, but comparing it to live music is sort of like comparing masturbation and sex. Masturbation and recording are great, and I make time to do both, because it's important, but really I'm just looking to rock the mic and get laid.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3s are lowering everyone's standards for quality of sound to the point where mix engineers may be obselete soon.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Why? What do they offer? Loans? You realize that's all that major labels do, lend you money to record with, and if they don't make it back, then you are in debt to them. If they do make it back, then you get between 5 and 10 percent of the profits. I would sign if I got a reasonable offer, but major recording companies are not in the business of reasonable offers.
Band History:
Dan is a member of Olympia's Subunderground Productions with MC Untytled.
Your influences?
Hip-hop, folk-hop, blues-hop, independent hip-hop, Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, Rage Against The Machine, Madlib, The World Famous Beat Junkies, Dilated Peoples, Jurassic 5, El-P, Definitive Jux, Company Flow...Should I keep going? Just listen, if you like it and you can't tell where I came up with the idea, it's because it's completely original.
Favorite spot?
The one I'm playing next.
