Arty came up with the name through fate and a dictionary. It seemed to fit our individual personas just fine so it stuck.

The band thoroughly enjoys live shows. Since 1996 Imbalance has been performing to live audiences in the New England area. Some spots include The Lobster Trap Pub in Essex, MA - Cameron's Lounge in Gloucester, MA - and The Diplomat in Saugus, MA. Our first performance at one particular club was memorable; It was Friday the 13th and everything was going smoothly, about halfway through our second set of songs the electricity went dead on the whole street. Hoping that the lights would come back on - we grabbed our acoustics and began serenading the crowd to candle light - they loved it and the electricity came back on just in time to finish the last set.

It allows a small unsigned band to distribute it's music to a world wide listening audience for minimal costs, and creates a following that would be near impossible any other way.

Signing a contract with a major label would be nice, but as a band we don't feel pressured to take the first offer that comes along. We feel we have enough talent, drive and durabilty to propell ourselves in the music world the way we see fit.

Formed in 1996 in Gloucester Massachusetts. Five seasoned musicians began work on a hard hitting ear catching cover band.This remained their bag untill creative forces beyond anyone's control began to surface. It was then that the group took a turn towards writing and recording original material. A 12 song CD, "Category: Rock", was created and released and now the band performs a mix of covers and originals through out their live shows. With such a wide range of styles and genres in music at the fingertips of virtually every person on Earth, it is very hard to expect anything major to happen to a small local band - but just knowing that people in Australia or Japan (or anywhere in the world) are diggin' the music you create is a form of flattery to overwhelming to describe.
