The music industry is continually evolving with new bands and sounds.Silkprince is a band that came after the napster revolution at a time when the most popular bands were korn ,the deftones,blink182,puff daddy,cash money and jay-z.Fast forward to 2006 and we can see how these sounds evolved into actual bands and genres.Silkprince, as simple as i can put it "is the soul of that era"
Why this name?
it was given to me by my band mate because of the way i sang
Do you play live?
yes,suny campuses........i remember when i first sang summertime,there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
it has mixed people taste in music
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
well,if they come right but independant is okay
Band History:
We started off in the tiny island of dominica it was 5 of us. All we had was a guitar with four strings and at the time there were not much ppl doing music. Over the period of a year we had our own studio, mixing techno with dance hall music.
Tragedy,struck in the form of a hard drive crash and tensions in the band cause us to split from our producer.I came to the states met up with a like minded producer and made an lp..silkprince.With hits like "freak" and "summertime" everyone on campus wanted a copy.
we knew at this point we had something. In the summer, we followed up with a compilation, spawning hit singles "damn" and "street dreams."
Unfortunately we had to split for reasons i can't discuss, but i am working on a solo project called "return of the prince" due out in may,more information will be posted as the project gets along.
