Why this name?
It was tough to come up with a band name which I both liked and I also felt accurately represented the mood of the band. I went through a number of phases, from Gothic Death Metal band names to more Melodic Rock 'n' Roll names, but I finally decided on Sanctum, a name which, I think, gives an image of mystery, but also of adventure...
Do you play live?
Never played live, primarily because being a lone-wolf (so to speak), it poses a problem to play live, but I would love the opportunity, though.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It enables for a wider range of music to reach a wider audience. It allows people, who maybe cannot otherwise become well-publicised, to become exactly that.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No doubt, yes.
Band History:
It all started when I joined my first 'band' really. I'd been playing guitar for about six months and a friend asked me to join, I agreed, but it never got past a few jamming sessions. Since then I've been in and out of various groups, ranging from acoustic-orientated, to death metal, to cover bands... but after a two year hiatus of playing in groups, I began to explore other instruments, and other genres of music, and I feel I've found my place in instrumental, progressive metal.
Your influences?
Where to start?

Dream Theater, Opeth, Symphony X, Pagan's Mind, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Jag Panzer, Iced Earth, and from time to time - Cradle of Filth, Hypocrisy etc. etc.

I am generally influenced by more progressive branches of the music world, but I can never forget my roots... Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath still remain heavy influences on my work.
Anything else...?
This is a solo project, I write, play, and record all the elements of each song, unless specified. Oh and by the way... apologies of the quality of the mp3s.

NB: The drums for each track were recorded through an electric drum kit, that is the reason for their 'direct' sound.
