play lo-fi play hi-fi  That Is How The Story Goes
R Preston Maddox -

Original songs of life, love, humor, praise and thanksgiving from a son of the West Virginia hills.
Why this name?
It was given to me at birth . . .
Do you play live?
Sure do. Churches, coffee houses, festivals, youth rallys, and anyplace I'm invited that I feel comfortable with. It's euphoric anytime you connect with an audience.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It forces the industry to be relevant in that we don't have to necessarily take what they want us to have anymore. Let the free market place and free speech decide who is worthy to be listened to. The industry screws up all the time. Look at Johnny Cash(his label once dropped him) and Toby Keith (they dissed a demo with two #1 songs on it) Any success in a track record is due to the monopoly they had up until now. Different ball game these days.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
They would have to be able to do something for me I can't do for myself. It's a business and they have to make a profit. But I won't be bilked for somebody else's enrichment.
Band History:
Long haired hippy guitar player from the 60's infesting every bar, club, frat house, etc. for a chance to play. A wife & children turned me into a solid citizen and the Lord took mercy on me and allowed me to play for His glory. Doing my own material for over two years, now.
Your influences?
I took guitar lessons from James Taylor, Paul Simon, Duane Allman & Clapton, & bass lessons from Felix Pappalardi, Lee Sklar & Jack Bruce.
Grew up listening to country, rock, bluegrass and classical. Might hear a little of all these in my material.
Favorite spot?
On top of a mountain at sunset or at the beach at sunrise.
Equipment used:
Taylor 612CE, 614CE and 810CE-L7 acoustics, Telecaster and Les Paul electrics, Aria bass, Yahmaha keyboard
Anything else...?
Sites like these turn it all loose . . . the good, the bad, the ugly, and the wannabes. Got to sift through a lot of detritus to find some nuggets, but hey, it's America and everybody can get at least a shot if they try.
