Pacific State means to be in a state of isolation like in the middle of an island in the Pacific. That's how the influences for the band are seen.
303 was a reference to Dance music, and the machine behind the influence of most Dance music.

Pacific Will be playing live from later on in the Spring. So far the only gig has been in a Kids kindergarten, playing strange Techno-Ambient to 2 and 3 year olds.

Pacific State/303 is the brainchild of DJ/Producer/Multi-instrumentalist Richie McCoy (nee Wisk Automatic)(b. 1979). March 16 1997 was the date of inception. It started as a low budget Darkscape Techno act but has progressed over the pass few years to include more genres including Hi-NRG, Indie-Pop, Drum n' Bass, Noise-Electronic, Modern Classical - a whole melting pot of styles.
1999 saw the limited release of a demo tape and a radio-only promo (IBA Engineering Information EP).
In 2000 became a duo breifly before becoming just Richie in 2001. At the moment Pacific are taking a sabbatical before returning later on in the Spring. Richie has now stepped up on lead vocals and a keyboard player has now been found completing the line-up. A release is iminent in the second half of 2002.

Pacific are into anything and everything (positive or negative influences) as it is fuel for new songs. Fave bands include The Beloved (particularly the first album "Where It Is" amongst others), Mark Hollis / Talk Talk, London ELektricity, Front 242, Supreme Beings Of Leisure, Baaba Maal, Alim Qaasimov, High Llamas, Kings Of Convenience. Other influences include environmental soundscapes, traffic, radiators, cookers, fridges - great noises to sample...
