Why this name?
The name Mr. Unknown came about originally because I was being compared to other artists in the industry and I just wanted to do something different. I have a lot of different skills, I can write, I produce and engineer music/sounds for others as well as myself, I can even sing songs off the top of my head. So you never know what your gonna get from Mr. Unknown.
Do you play live?
I perform live all the time. I've be featured in the BET PANTENE Tour which went up and down the whole east coast and over as far as Houston. I opened up for artist like MC Lyte, Yolanda Adams, and Nikki Giovanni. I also performed on the EBONY MAGAZINE Black Family Reunion Tour where I opened up for Sugar Hill Gang, Big Daddy Cane, Whodini, and others.

One special moment that stands out for me goes a little like this.....The evening began with a pair of special guests (DL Scott & Walt Smooth) who got the crowd of 4000 in a dancing mood before the house lights dimmed and the crowd was on its feet waiting for the man of the evening. With a new-found energy and electrifying on-stage presence, headliner Frankie Beverly brought his unique brand of funk to Daniel Island as Family Circle Magazine Stadium came alive with the R&B sounds of the MOJA Festival finale. I remember being excited when I performed at this event because of that energy. I remember the feeling I had when the crowd chantted me to give them more and I happily delivered.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet is one of the best things that has happened to the music industry. We can now reach out to people across the world and market our music for vertually nothing. That was unheard of back in the day. Even now you can learn all about me and what I'm doing because of the internet.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah, but I would like to have majority creative control over my projects.
Band History:
Well, I was never really into music when I was younger...I guess I was too afraid to do it....I always sang, but that is not what my father wanted. He was more less the follow in my footsteps type of person. He played basketball, and that's what he wanted me to do. Needless to say, I sang in my young adult choir, and did some humming here and there, but I didn't do anything about it until I moved to Charlotte. That is where it really all began for me....that's where I first started to belive in my dream. I thank God for giving me this talent.
Your influences?
I am an old school cat. I love people like the Islyey brothers, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, the Gap band, EWF, the Temptations, Harold Melvin and the Blue notes, and many more....like the Revernd John P. Kee, Smokie Norfield, Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Canton Jones
Favorite spot?
The Queen City, hands down. Charlotte, NC for ya'll that don't know.
Equipment used:
I use the Yamaha Motif ES and XS, MPC 2000, Ensoniq SQ1, Roland Phantom, and Korg triton.....I also record on Pro Tools, Sony Vegas 5.0, Reasons, Acid 4.0, Logic Platinum, Cubase and Nuendo.
